Massage Therapy

Infant Massage

Massage therapy for babies is a gentle and nurturing practice that promotes relaxation, physical development, and emotional well-being. It involves soft, rhythmic strokes and pressure techniques tailored to a child’s age and needs, enhancing circulation, muscle tone, and flexibility.

For babies, massage fosters parent-child bonding, soothes colic, and encourages better sleep patterns. In children, it can alleviate stress, support growth, and even aid in managing conditions such as sensory integration challenges or physical disabilities. Massage therapy creates a calming experience, helping young ones feel secure and supported while nurturing their overall health and development.

Areas a Massage Therapist may be able to help with for babies and infants:

  • Tight muscles
  • Head turning preference
  • Colic
  • Constipation
  • Gas
  • Sleep patterns
  • Relaxation
  • Parent and baby bonding

Pediatric Massage

Massage therapy for children is a gentle, nurturing form of touch that supports physical, emotional, and developmental well-being. Techniques are adapted to the child’s age, size, comfort level, and individual needs.

Benefits may include:

  • Promoting relaxation and reducing stress or anxiety
  • Improving sleep quality and regulating rest–wake cycles
  • Enhancing circulation, muscle tone, and joint mobility
  • Supporting growth and development, particularly in children with motor delays or chronic conditions
  • Reducing discomfort from growing pains, tension, or certain medical treatments
  • Strengthening body awareness, sensory integration, and parent–child bonding when caregivers are involved

Children’s massage is typically shorter in duration than adult sessions and may involve play, storytelling, or music to create a safe and engaging experience. Therapists use light to moderate pressure, depending on the child’s tolerance, and always seek consent and feedback. Parental presence is encouraged, and therapists may teach simple techniques for caregivers to use at home.
